  1. Hi Hunter

    Overall Score 14/20

Not a bad thriller opening although there are some distracting continuity errors that could have been avoided by choosing different footage. For example the beginning has Amber-Lee's mum showing she is going to the bathroom and then walks off in that direction, you then cut to the abductor getting out the car and the mother is back pushing the child on the swing. It doesn't add to verisimilitude.

For the start of the movie, in-keeping with thriller openings you've seen, it could have been more effective to start the film with your production company logo and some of the shots of the cantered angles of the surrounding area. That would have given the audience a clue about sometime sinister about to happen.

Cutting the music all together when the abductor speaks almost makes it seem disjointed and perhaps hasn't had the effect you may have hoped. Using silence when you've built to a point with music, needs to be very strategic and doesn't often work.

I like the slow motion effect on the lolly dropping

The chase sequence again, realistically, has the suspense slightly overshadowed by the fact they are running through a busy playground. I think setting needs more thought. Thinking about thrillers being set in a secluded place, it adds to it being more realistic.

I like the logo and the titles, I think you've done great job in after effects with them.

I think the editing / cutting between the mum and the car was a nice touch. I don't think the black outs in-between work very well.

Overall a good attempt but attention to detail needs to get better so the small things like continuity errors, don't detract from the suspense and tension that needs to be built in a thriller.
